The Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, based at the UCT Graduate School of Business, works to advance social innovation and entrepreneurship in South Africa and beyond. Their work brings together research, learning, convening and practical support to help people and organisations develop more inclusive and sustainable responses to complex social challenges.
I have supported the Bertha Centre on several marketing and communications campaigns, helping translate their ideas, programmes and initiatives into accessible digital content. My work has focused on making social innovation stories clear, engaging and useful to the audiences they need to reach, from students and entrepreneurs to funders, partners and the broader public.
Through video, campaign content and digital storytelling, I have helped communicate the purpose and value of the Centre’s work in a way that supports visibility, public engagement and connection with its wider ecosystem.
Bertha scholar profiles
The GSB offers scholarships to talented and deserving individuals from Africa. They wanted to profile some of these scholars in order to motivate other talented Africans to apply.
Changemakers youth programme
The Changemakers programme is a 2-month interactive social entrepreneurship programme for young people who are not in format education, training or employment. It is 100% free and targets youth from the Phillipi community in the Cape Flats who show potential in community development.
Overview video
The Bertha Centre works at various levels in the sector. They are active in education, entrepreneurship, health and many more. So it’s often difficult for them to summarise their reach to the public. I worked with them to produce this overview video to help people understand the beautiful complexity of the centre.
impact investment programme
Impact Investment in Africa is a specialised short course, offered by the Bertha Centre at the UCT GSB. I produced this short overview video to help promote the course to wealth managers, consultants, funders & other financial intermediaries.
