Early Childhood Development 〰️

SmartStart is an early learning social franchise, with a network of trained and licensed practitioners (SmartStarters) who implement the same evidence-based programme all across South Africa.

SmartStart’s franchise model is built on a national network of early childhood practitioners working in marginalised communities across South Africa. This gives the organisation a powerful base of real stories that can help communicate both the scale of the early learning challenge and the impact its network is making in response.

I have worked with SmartStart to produce short documentary content that brings these stories to life in a clear, human and accessible way. The videos support the organisation’s broader communications by helping external audiences understand the value of its model, while also strengthening connection, pride and motivation within its national network.

This video celebrates some of the first SmartStarters to join the program. It illustrates the impact SmartStart is having in these communities by sharing the story of one of the first children to benefit from quality early childhood education.

This SmartStart centre is run by a mother - daughter duo. Learn more about what SmartStart has meant from this family in this short documentary.

This video was produced for the SmartStart network. It aims to motivate other SmartStarters to use a new tool that adds a lot of value to the program.

A significant part of SmartStart’s day-to-day work involves training, supporting and aligning SmartStarters across its national network. Video plays an important role in this communication system, helping the organisation deliver consistent, engaging and accessible training content to practitioners in different parts of the country.

Over the years, I have produced a range of training and informational videos for SmartStart, helping translate programme content into clear, practical and engaging resources that support learning, implementation and network cohesion.

Here is a taste of some of the informational videos we have produced:
